6 Awesome parks in Zachary, LA

December 11, 2017

Zachary Community Park has some great features! Located at 20055 Old Scenic Hwy in Zachary, the newest built park in Zachary has so much to do.  You can find a basketball court, sand volleyball court, stocked fishing ponds, skate park, Dog park, playground, walking trails, fitness area, picnic area, splash park and lots of green space.

One of the fishing piers. Enjoy the sunshine and throw a line. Notice the shade area near the tree. Perhaps that is where the fish are?? This is a picture of the small pond. The large pond towards the back was stocked with fish which are grown now. Throw a line or use the walking trails to get some exercise.

With three courts and lots of sand, you can spend the afternoon having a blast with friends. Bonus: Bring the sand toys and let the kids make a sand castle. It can be a semi beach day on a whim for the littles!

Time to shoot hoops? Grab some friends and head over to the Basketball courts! Who is ready for a game of B-R-O-N-C-O-S?  If not, enjoy the shaded area with picnic tables and keep score.

Get your skateboard! Experience some air at the Skate park! Can you handle the inclines?

Sit for a minute and you hear the sounds of laughter and fun at the playground area. With a three story Mega play center, your kids will have fun all afternoon! The soft impact rubber mulch bottom lets kids zoom down the three story slide. You will often see some fly off!

If you are hot and sweaty from all the fun, head on over to the splash park and cool off! If you aim the water gun just right you can hit a friend. Give it a few minutes and the water will dump once the buckets fill in the middle.  Moms and Dads can enjoy the many shaded areas surrounding the play and splash pad areas or even enjoy a quick work out in the fitness areas.

Flanacher Park located at 864 Flanacher Rd you can find basketball court, disc golf, lake, playground, tennis court, walking track, and recreation center.

The recreation center is a piece of art.

You don't have to look to far to find the walking trails and Disc Golf Course. Can't handle disc golf yet? Stop and let the littles play on the toys! With mature trees shading the area around the pond you can either enjoy watching the creatures in the water or get some hiking in. Time for tennis? Bring your racket and enjoy the tennis courts.

Rita Street Park is on Newell St at Rita St with tennis court, soccer, playground and green space. It was recently updated.

Church Street Park - go to 3210 Church Street and hand out on the Playground with Tots toys, basketball courts,  or enjoy the mature trees with green space. Enjoy the picnic area! Although not lacking in fun, most days this playground is rather empty so even the smallest of littles can have fun on the toys they have specially for the Tots in Zachary.

Doyle's Bayou 7801 Port  Hudson-Pride Rd who would have though over 97 Acres would have gently rolling terrain with meadows, streams and lakes providing the citizens of East Baton Rouge Parish one amazing conservation area. Open space like this is becoming more rare.  Located off of Main Street in Zachary, between Highway 19 and Plank Road, this site features a number of lakes (great for fishing), a playground area, a picnic area, a ball diamond and wide open fields that may be used for all types of special events and sporting activities.

Instead of grass or rubber mulch, sand covers the play area bottom. Bring sand toys and let the littles create master pieces. With an abundance of shade around the playground area, you can enjoy a lazy day in peace.

Plank Road Park 19550 Plank Rd - indoor basketball court, playground, archery range, zip line, and special younger tot toys are all at the park. Although their is a lack of mature trees around the play area, there is a covered area with pi

cnic tables and lots of green grass to run through.
